The Week Ahead

It’s spring and winter

Spring began at 1:32 in the afternoon Saturday. But Mother Nature didn’t get the memo. After a week of sunshine and highs in the 60s, we are now dealing with much colder air and a mixed bag of precipitation.

Of course, this is par for the course. March is never simply a month of smooth sailing. In fact, many times April brings us plenty of ups and downs. The good news about this particular down is that it should be short-lived, as highs will climb starting Tuesday.

Weather wise: So far this month, we’ve had seven days with highs in the 60s, but we are still awaiting that first 70-degree day.

    Here we go again
If you woke up early Friday you might have thought that we had seen the last of the brutal summer heat. For a few minutes, we dropped into the upper 40s, and it was downright chilly.

    Down the stretch?
Now that we are into the second half of August, we might be nearing a long-awaited cooldown. Of course, that would require things to be “normal,” and this summer has been anything but.
  • The Week Ahead
    Fast/slow summer
It’s funny how time works. On one hand, this summer has been long and hot. It feels as if it has been one endless 90-degree day.

When good weather happens to good people
Well, that was easy. A few days of thunderstorms, and most people aren’t in desperate need of rain anymore.

    Goodbye, July
I haven’t talked to many people who are going to miss this July. Of course, the main reason for that is the heat. The month ended with 14 90-degree days and a whopping average high of more than 88 degrees.

    Finally, a break
In a month full of heat, it’s nice to finally get some relief. Coming into Sunday, only three days this month have failed to reach 85 degrees, and only one fell short of 80 degrees.
